The Story
Luha and Issel have dedicated themselves to their family's farm in Santiago de Puringla, Honduras, where the coffee industry has long been dominated by men. Motivated by opportunities to innovate, these sisters have defied the cultural landscape — establishing a local roastery, forming a co-op that operates its own mill, and pursuing diversification through honey and fruit wines. All their coffees are sold under Los Encinos, the name of their mill, established as their own independent project in 2019. They own two farms: Finca El Pino (founded 2011, 10 Manzanas) and Finca El Pino 2 (founded 2019, 7 Manzanas, home of El Ocotillo). At Beneficio Los Encinos they also process coffee for neighboring farmers like Doña Juana, Don Fermin Santos, and Don José Natividad Hernandez.
